Spring!

Spring is definitely in the air here in Edmonton. The sidewalks are dry, the sun shines and there's so many dresses in the store! Eve Gravel, Dace, Dagg & Stacey, Sunja Link, Allison Wonderland and Peel have all arrived.

Allison Wonderland, one of our favorites here at the store, was recently featured in Vancouver Fashion eZine, so click here to check out the article and find out more about the talent behind the pretty clothes.

I'll be wrapping up buying for Fall 08 this week, which means I can finally concentrate on the current season, Spring! My big lavender bike is all ready for the first bike ride of the season and more importantly, it's almost patio season at The Empress!

At Last!

We're so excited! We have a new website! Same ol' address, www.nokomisclothing.ca, but a new format, new pictures, and best of all, a link to our blog! So, snoop around on the site and let us know what you think. After you're done that, snoop around HERE, 'cause we're really grateful to dear Raymond, who built the site for us.

Okay, we're off to the Edmonton Tradeshow tomorrow, looking at Fall 2008 lines for the store (I know, I know, fall? but it's true). We'll try and find something special for you!

Our Handyman/Denim Model

Our pal, Adam, stopped by the store today and we made him try on the new men's denim that just arrived. The Montreal company, Naked and Famous, also produces women's denim, which means for the first time in five years we carry jeans! We put the jeans, and Adam, to the ultimate test when we made him change a light bulb for us. Maybe next time he can try on the men's Preloved and wash the windows?

Monday! Go vote!

So we're a little nerdy over here at Nokomis. We listen to the Canadian recording of the Phantom of the Opera every two weeks or so at the studio, we have long conversations about cheese and some of us, not naming any names, may have even dressed as our dungeons and dragons character during games. But you see we embrace and cherish our inner-nerds, we know they make us richer and better people.

Thus I feel no shame in letting everyone know that I spent my Saturday night eating (many) chips and watching a previously-taped vhs recording of the Alberta provincial candidates debate with some friends. I'd missed watching it the first time around as it was aired the same evening as our grand opening party. I'm glad I finally got a chance to see what the parties vying to be our province's next government in this Monday's election had to say however. You can link to their websites here to find out for yourself. Though one could argue Alberta is headed for more of the same no matter what happens during the vote, I still feel it is so very important for everyone to take advantage of their right to express their opinion--we don't get many chances to do that in this province.

You're smart, and you care about things, and you have ideas of what kind of world you want to live in. You know what's good for you and the people that matter to you. So please, make sure you go vote tomorrow, Monday March 3rd. Let's help shape our future ok?
