Summer heat!

While the ladies in the studio have been cooling off with fun sprinklers, the store crew has been keeping it cool with the lovely newly installed AC. Whyte Avenue has been streaming with people out and about in Edmonton's heat wave, keeping the summer sale busy. Though there is only a week left, there are still lots of great styles hanging on the racks. Given that they're all going to be packed up soon to make way for fall, we decided to show off some of our favorite pieces!

I hope everyone was able to pick up some gems at the noko sale--it's still on till August 5th in case you haven't been yet. That's when things will get really exciting as we'll debut the first couple pieces from our Fall 2007 line directly thereafter. Keep an eye out and we'll be sure to keep you posted.

Impromptu sprinkler

Edmonton is HOT! right now. It's been hard to sleep these last few nights and it's been even harder to work. As I'm sure we've mentioned (only about a million times) the studio turns into an oven as soon as the temperature creeps above 25 degrees. This makes for some interesting work outfits as we try to piece together the breeziest combinations we can out of old samples and fabric scraps. Genevieve had the brillant idea this afternoon to piece together an impromptu sprinkler which proved very effective in cooling her off until the boys at the biker bar across the alley became interested. It was nice while it lasted--doesn't she look happy?

Hey, Guess What?

In case you haven't heard, Nokomis is cleaning house. Our annual summer clearance sale starts first thing tomorrow, that's Thursday July 12. Come in and save between 20-70% on all clothing. We're also selling off some of our studio samples so you could be the proud owner of a never before seen, one-of-a-kind piece. Are you excited or what?

Summer Solstice

It's Summer Solstice and it's very hot here in the Nokomis Studio. We are still busy sewing, cutting, printing, and grading but tonight we will celebrate. Laurel and I are plotting to crash some Parties and jump over the fire pit to make our Summer Solstice wishes. Poor Eliz has an eye infection so I made her this eye patch, she's so charming!

Wish We Were There

Tala, who works in the Nokomis store and moonlights in the studio, just sent Genevieve some photos of her trip to Paris. She left on Sunday and will be gone for two months. Some girls have all the luck. Sigh.

The View From Here

It's all coming together now, we're working away, madly screening, cutting and everything in-between. Expect to start seeing the Noko fall 2007 line in stores starting August 1st. In the meantime, here's a glimpse into our world and current projects. Laurel's been hand-screening hundreds of metres of fabric with our briar-rose themed visuals. Genevieve's been doing most of the cutting (for which I am truly appreciative) and I've been grading all of our patterns. It's starting to feel a bit like work, but it's so worth it, I'm really excited.
