new clothes + new noko girl = best afternoon ever

so not only have we had a bundle of new styles roll into nokomis this week, we've also had a new noko girl join the family! kaitlin is the latest and greatest at nokomis, so you are sure to see her face around the shop.

she's also a great sport, because emilia and i threw her into the limelight on her second day. kaitlin and emilia tromped around the back alleyways of whyte ave as emilia snapped a few photos of kaitlin in the new clothes.

art walk

this weekend the streets of whyte ave will again be packed with people! it's the annual art walk festival, from friday-sunday! i'm praying for sunshine, we have to keep those canvases dry!

you'll have to be sure to check out noko's own maegan mehler, who will be setting up on 105 street and 82 ave (south side of whyte ave) in front of optimum cars.

all images are of maegan's work. she's going to do a portrait of my cats for me! oh man, that's gonna be sweet.

sos fest

this is what the streets of old strathcona looked like this past weekend. the old strathcona business association organized the sounds of old stathcona festival (sos fest), and man, it was amazing. there were shows all weekend in venues in and around whyte ave, and on sunday they closed down parts of whyte ave for a free outdoor show.

i was too busy dancing my pants (onesie?) off, so all of these photos are courtesy of Fish Griwkowsky. thanks fish!

there was a massive street dance party courtesy of these dudes, shout out out out out.


they hadn't played in town for a year, so it was amazing to see them again, especially for free, in heart of the city. me and my ladies had a good ol' dance party.

the stage was just set up a few meters away from the store. this is the only photo i managed to take myself:
