My pal and edmonton ex-pat Laurel (now a teacher in London) sent me the sweetest email the other day, with a picture of her and her noko bag in Corsica. Here are her own words:
I have to tell you this email made my week. Sometimes I get caught up in the day to day tasks: paying bills, ordering stock, making sales. I look at the to-do list I have to do each day. I forget about the bigger picture. This email was a nice reminder of just that. Thank you, Laurel.
I keep meaning to tell you that my Nokomis shopping bags have always had an exciting second life. My first one (green and white gingham, got it years ago at the first Nokomis store down the alley when I bought a coral Preloved trench skirt I still wear) came on my poor-student's bakpacking trip all over Europe after high school. It was my laundry bag and got put through the wash by all kinds of Italian and Spanish laundry-service grannies.
The latest Nokomis shopping bag (turquoise with raven silkscreen, got it this summer with my new favourite grey jeans) just came to Corsica on a really challenging mountain hike. I meant to take a picture of it for you on top of the mountain but I was always too exhausted. Instead, here is a picture of it after the hiking week doing duty as a beachbag. (It also served as laundry bag and swirled around in the hugest Miele dryer I have ever seen.)
I'm sure that your little shopping bags are well-used and re-used all over the world. I've just always meant to tell you about how much I love mine.
Where have you taken your noko bag?

My small blue fabric noko bag is my cosmetics case when I travel. It's been all over Europe and all over most of Canada. I often wish I could get another one as it's the last one I've got left!
oh my yes...
i use a little yellow gingham noko bag for my cosmetic-bathroomy things when traveling...
and it been to.. Cuba, South Africa, Texas, and all over Canada! they are totes the best totes!
I brought all of my original gingham ones (and trust me, there are many) to Montreal for shopping bags. I use them every day.
Some of my beautiful blue bags (and Nokomis clothes too!!) have been to: Europe, North Africa, Asia, Australia, and North America!
Thanks, Noko, for being such a lovely store with such cute bags!
all over New York and it always gets attention!
Mine came with me to Europe, specifically London, Paris and Rome! These days it travels with my husband to his work as a lunch bag. Occasionally it holds my knitting to and from locations.
I think I still have my very first one- yellow plaid with nokomis written in a black sharpie on the bottom!
My favorite thing about my Noko bags (and I have a few that I love to use), is that they always draw together Noko customers. Living in Vancouver now, I don't get to visit Nokomis as often as I would like, but whenever I pull out one of my Nokomis bags in the presence of any other stylish Edmonton ex-pat (i.e. another Noko customer), there's always a little spark!
